Drabble Prompt: Pride

And so it begins....

The plan is to do a weekly prompt for drabbles at the same time each week. Initially I think littleotter73 (who is kindly co-moding) and myself will take it in turns, but I'm open to offers for anyone who wants to join the rotation. Comment below or give me a PM at any time.

Each month will also have a ficlet theme for slightly longer ideas. First of these will be posted 1 October and we'll see how it goes.Haven't figured the rotation there. I'll start and again, let me know if you have ideas and want to lead.

Anyways, enough rambling.....this weeks prompt is

It goes before a fall... accompanies prejudice and goes lake swimming in a frilly white shirt... there might be gay pride...cock pride...pride in achievements of others. This weeks gold star will go to anyone who works a crossover with the Lion King.

Please post to the comm and make me proud.

Drabble: Fallen

Ok, I will go first. :)

Title: Fallen

Author: littleotter73

Characters: Giles (mention of Buffy)

Prompt: Pride

Word Count: 100

Disclaimer: Just playing in Joss’ sandbox with his toys.

He’d fallen all those years ago, killing a man due to his youthful folly and arrogance, at times suffering humility and great humiliation since. Harsh looks, crueler whispers... especially when he’d entered the Council’s hallowed halls.

One fateful day he’d walked out, head held high. He was the Chosen. Then he’d met her and she’d quickly reminded him of his place... at her side. They’d defeated evil, survived multiple apocalypses, always won the day, and no doubt would again.

He stared at her broken body in disbelief. A hollow victory. The gods extracted their price for his hubris. She’d fallen.

Drabble: He Didn't Know

Title: He Didn’t Know
Author boundbyash
Characters: Giles, Xander
Prompt: Pride
Word Count: 100
Disclaimer: I don’t own them, I just borrow them once in awhile.

“Sorry about tonight Giles,” said Xander, “My shot missed”

Giles remembered his fear when he’d seen how close the vampire had been to an exhausted Xander. “You’ve nothing to apologize for.”

“But if I’d got him you would’ve been proud of me, like you are of Buffy”

Giles looked over at this remarkable boy who continually put his life on the line. “Xander, I am always proud of all of you. Sometimes, you most of all.

Xander’s mouth fell open for a moment before his face lit up in a huge grin.

“Yeah?” Suddenly he wasn’t feeling quite so tired.
